Night Children [Chapter Eighty One] End
I stared at the castle through sleepy eyes. Home. I was home again, I could feel it in my chest, this was where I was meant to be. I looked over and seen Viktor with the twins in his arms. My heart fluttered, and I couldn’t help but smile. The twins were sleeping on his shoulders, exhausted from the move.
We had said quick goodbyes to Melinda and Arista, and promised that we would visit them soon.
I had relinquished my spot as Elder to Helena, she was nervous about taking the position, but she wouldn’t separate Viktor and I by making me stay Elder. Besides we both knew she would do good. Markus of course stayed with her, I can already tell they will be spending eternity together, but they had decided Helena wouldn’t be turned till she was a bit older and could find someone to relinquish her Elder position to.
Douglas stayed there as well, he was the head guard after all, and I felt safer knowing that he would be there to watch over Helena during the daylight hours where Markus was forced to stay inside. Surprisingly enough Seth and Colleen stayed in the Soul Children village as well. Helena made sure they had a nice home.
Lukas and my father returned to positions regarding the Moon Children. Lukas taking up his spot as leader, and King, my father his guard. My father and I have not patched things up, both of us stubborn people, I don’t know if we will ever make things right.
“Home at last,” I heard Alana whisper, and Griever’s hand snaked around her lower back, he smiled and kissed her passionately. I blushed and looked away.
“We’re... going to go hunting before night is over,” Griever said slowly with out looking at us.
“Uh, just go,” Viktor said with a hint of laughter.
The two dashed off playfully and we entered through the front gates and were greeted quickly. I took the sleeping Adeline into my arms since I was unsure of how the people would take her considering no one thought it was possible for us to have a girl.
“Twins?” “Really!?” “How fantastic?” “Why didn’t you say so?” “How adorable!” “Aren’t they precious?” The towns people took it well.
Bringing her into the castle was different. I had jostled her awake and Viktor had done the same with Alaric. “What the hell is this?” O’Connell asked, the Blood Brigade standing behind him.
“I’ll second that,” Vincent said descending the stairs.
“We had twins,” Viktor said setting Alaric down on his feet. I set down Adeline and they held hands while rubbing opposite eyes with their fists. “Father, this is Alaric’s twin sister, Adeline.”
“Hello Grandpa!” Adeline said perkily turning on the charm for the old Night Child.
“How... how is this possible?” Vincent questioned.
Other Night Children had gathered around, keeping their distance from us, but staring at the wonderful little children in front of them. None of them had ever seen a baby girl Night Child, which she was... at least half of. My side was just more dominant in her.
“Turns out I’m a Soul Child,” I responded.
The Night Children started turning to each other, passing on the gossip and watching with peaked interest. “Well... how peculiar,” Vincent responded rubbing his chin, “they are a completely new being.”
Adeline looked up at me, “am I strange then?”
I chuckled, “no, you just have my abilities, and will probably eventually develop your fathers, just like Alaric has a lot of your father’s abilities and has already started to develop ones of mine.”
“Oh,” she responded with a wide yawn, “tired, Mommy.”
I picked her up and she snuggled into my collar bone which I was sure wasn’t too comfortable. “We should be getting these two to bed,” I stated.
Viktor picked up Alaric who was also yawning and rubbing his eyes. Vincent walked up to us, “I’ll go with you two then.” I nodded, “may I?” He said his hands up by Adeline. I nodded and handed her carefully to him. She was a heavy sleeper and stayed sleeping through the transfer. Vincent smiled holding her, “she’s beautiful, she looks much like you Evanangelique.”
I smiled, “thank you.”
Once Viktor and Vincent had the children into their separate beds in a shared room we commenced in mine and Viktor’s room.
“You’ll lead these people well Viktor,” Vincent said, “and soon enough Alaric will after. I’m sure you will both do well. This world needs change and you’ve already accomplished so much my son. You too Angelique, fighting with such bravery and strength, better than a lot of the men I employ.” I bowed my head in thanks. “Have a good night you two.”
I let out a breath, “we’re home, that went well.”
“Shocking I know,” Viktor responded kissing my lips lightly.
I drew away, “I need a bath,” I muttered.
“Oh, I’ll join you.”
I giggled and let him. The water was lukewarm, but not at all uncomfortable, the days were warmer, and the castle while it kept cool most of the year the summer months still lay ahead but the air was warm, the bath was refreshing.
“Happy to be home?” I asked him looking over at his ridiculously toned body which he never had to work for, while mine I had to keep working to maintain (me? Jealous? Yeah, kinda.) His long hair was longer than mine and I wound my hair around it.
“I’m happy to be with you, with my children, in very nice place,” Viktor said leaning over me, kissing me lightly and I pulled him closer our kiss becoming more passionate.
“Viktor...” I pulled away slowly.
He studied me, “Angel? Something wrong?”
“Do you love me?”
He scoffed, “of course I do, with all my heart, I want to spend all of my life with you. Which will be a very long one.”
I looked up at him, my wide steel coloured eyes though I didn’t know how long they would stay that way. “Bite me then.”
“What?” Viktor said shocked.
“I want to be with you forever, I want to be a Night Child.”
“I love you.”
“And I you,” I responded as his face nuzzled into my neck making me breathless as he left little kisses on my skin before he clamped down sending venom into my blood stream. I opened my mouth to let out a scream that never came. I melted into him. His mate, for life, forever.
**Ello Loves. Yes, this is the end of Night Children. There won't be any sequel. It was supose to only be 20-30 chapter project when I started this, and you got 81! This is the longest thing I've ever written. I wanted to show that not all Vampire stories were alike and I think I succeeded in that while entertaining readers and staying true to my characters.
Now the time I used on this will go into other areas of my life I've let slip with this project, and will also go to extra time writing for my Boot Camp story. If there is something about the series I neglected to tie up please inform me!
Thank you so much for reading, you've made me so happy with your kind comments, and beautiful banners. Thank you so much for sharing this experience with me <3 silent.lullaby
