“Do either of you have blood type A positive?” Jessica asked.
“Gem does,” Preston replied. He held his hand out and Gemma sighed handing over her gun to him.
Gemma sat down and Jessica poked her with the needle feeding blood to a bag she would use to replace what Ceasario lost. It took fifteen minutes for the bag to fill and Jessica took the needle from Gemma’s arm and placed a band-aid over the hole. She then took the bag and hung it up hooking it up to Ceasario. “I’ve done all I can, but... I’m not sure if it is enough. This is a job for a surgeon. Not a nurse.”
Grabbing her coat Gemma stood, “I know where to get one.”
“Is it a good idea?”
“No. But if you have a better one I’d love to hear it.”
Preston looked down but then handed her, her gun back. “Just remember that every action has repercussions.”
Gemma nodded and walked to the door before stopping and looking back. “Keep him alive till I return. Whatever it takes.”

Ivan sat on a swing in the middle of a park. Dusk had fallen, cars whizzed by and unlike other places at this time of night, New York City was still full of life. “Thought I might find you here.” He nearly jumped out of his skin and whirled around. “I need your help.”
“Funny, you didn’t want my help. You wanted me to stay in your room.”
“Yeah, well now they know you were there.” Gemma took a seat next to him and swayed slightly. “You said your mom is a surgeon. We... we kidnapped a nurse, she was able to patch Caesar up... but... it’s not enough. I need your help.”
“You work for the mafia.” Ivan looked over and swallowed hard.
“Please, it’s not like this is shocking information to you. The Lombardi family is well known here for being mafia, especially after my father and Uncle Antonio went to prison... please. Your mom took an oath right? She has to help.”
“Yeah, if they come to the hospital! Helping mafia members in their secret underground lair is hardly that.”
“He will die if you don’t get your mom to help.” Gemma insisted getting off the swing and standing in front of him. “He’s like a brother to me, and I won’t sit by idle why he bleeds out! If you won’t help me, I’ll do something drastic.” With her words she pulled her gun out from the back of her pants and cocked it.
Ivan jumped back and got tangled up in the swing chains before falling onto his back. “Woah,” he threw his hands in front of himself.
“I wouldn’t shoot you Ivan, for fuck sakes. I like you okay. And as a friend I’m asking for your help! Please!” Gemma fought for control over her emotions. She was threatening to break as she begged with Ivan. She couldn’t become weak, not now. “Please.” Ivan sighed but put his hand out and she gave a fleeting smile before grabbing his hand and heaving him to his feet. She was stronger than she looked. “I owe you big for this.”
“You have no idea.”

Gavin dressed quickly, didn’t bother showering he was hungover and felt like he might vomit at any moment. “Lexie,” he kicked her side, “Lex wake up!”
She groaned and rolled over, the blanket fell from her chest and he looked away. She was completely naked too. She crawled across the bed and he felt her hands on his chest. He took a few steps back. “What is it Gavin? We had a great time last night, why are you acting like this?”
“You have got to be fucking kidding me,” Gavin took a deep breath out and let a long breath out. His phone vibrated on the night stand, he looked at it, the caller ID told him it was a text from Lilianna. Guilt ate at him despite them not actually being an ‘item’ it didn’t feel right.
She grabbed the blankets and pulled them over her body, he could hear her crying before he finally looked at her. “I didn’t realize that I was that repulsive to you.”
“Lex... fuck.” Gavin ran a hand through his knotted hair and wondered how the hell he was going to get out of this one.

Blaire tentatively walked to Matteo. He was sitting in his brother’s room looking at a picture frame. “I’m not going to ask if you’re okay. I already know the answer,” she said softly. He looked up and then turned the picture around so she could see. It was a picture of a much smaller version of Ceasario and Matteo and a tiny little Lucia. It was one of those adorable family portraits that you grow to loathe when you get older and your parents insist on showing off how cute you were. She smiled, “cute.”
“Everything was so much simpler then. Easier. You don’t expect a bullet when you’re six.”
He put the picture back and stood up, he walked to her, placed his hands on her shoulders, “you should get out before you get sucked in.”
“You should too.” She responded sadly. She was shocked when he suddenly pulled her to his chest. Hugged her tight. He shook slightly and she felt tears soak through the thin fabric of her shirt. She wanted to tell him it would be okay. She couldn’t though. She was still waiting for someone to tell her the same thing. He tilted her head up and kissed her lightly on the lips, like it was a test. It was strange, to know someone for so long and to see them in a different light. He had always been like that annoying big brother. He pushed back some of her hair.
“Kiss me again?” His lips twitched with humour before they claimed hers again she fell into his chest, and knew this couldn’t end well. Matteo didn’t do serious relationships. Matteo’s brother was dying down stairs. He wasn’t looking for her. He was looking for a distraction. She pulled away trying to let her mind catch up, but he pulled her back, his hand tangled in her hair, his lips blanked her mind. She didn’t mind being a distraction, not if she was his distraction.

Preston kept a watchful eye on both Ceasario and Jessica. “He really did like you, you know.” She kept quiet as she sterilized her equipment. “Relationships in our line of work is... difficult.”
“You don’t say,” her tone was sarcastic and filled with acid.
He sighed. “Look you can be pissed off that we kidnapped you, but if you don’t start acting like you can keep your mouth shut, and if you can’t be loyal...” He trailed off. Threatening other mobsters, gangbangers, drug dealers, and other sons of bitches. Threatening a woman though, and a nurse! Preston flat out refused to hurt women. Antonio both knew this, and respected him for it. Still with the bosses away, Preston shook his head. He wouldn’t hurt this woman. He couldn’t.
“I’ll keep quiet,” she replied angrily.
Preston really hoped she would, because as much as he would hate himself for harming a woman he would hate himself more if she caused harm to the family.
“Gem does,” Preston replied. He held his hand out and Gemma sighed handing over her gun to him.
