//We Run This Town//Chapter 036// Dorkasaurus
“How...” Ivan couldn’t believe it. Gemma fell backwards on the floor laughing as she held her stomach with both hands gasping for air, one of his X-Box 360 controller in hand. “You didn’t say you could play.”
“You didn’t ask,” she got out after a moment taken to catch her breath again. She sat up, her short ringlets bobbed and she pushed one out of her face. “Just so you don’t make the mistake again, I rule at COD.”
Which had to be the hottest thing Ivan had ever heard. A girl, a girl as pretty as Gemma could play Call of Duty like a pro. “Don’t you have Black Ops yet?” She asked as she dropped her controller to her side and bent over on her knees too look at his collection of X-Box 360 games on the bottom row of his mother’s book shelf. Her butt in the tight jeans pointed at him. He swallowed hard and looked away, he wished there was a window to gaze out of, but they were in the basement so he just stared at a blank wall.
“No, not yet.”
“I have it. We should... play it sometime.”
He smiled as he looked over at her, she was still in the same position that made his palms sweaty, but she was looking at him with a knowing smile. “Yeah, that would be... cool.”
She laughed and fell back, the back of her head landing on his thigh, “what would you know about cool, Dorkasaurus?”
He smiled at the nickname she’d taken to calling him. He’d never had a nickname. Even if it had dork in it, he would live with it if it was her who would keep on saying it. “I must know a bit, or you’re slumming to hang out with me.”
She grinned just a little, “I’m not slumming.”
“Good to hear.”
Gemma sat up and sat crosslegged in front of him, “by the way, you have a boner.”
“What?” He quickly looked down feeling his cheeks heat up.
Gemma’s beautiful laugh filled the room once again, “made you look!”

“It sucks being in here,” I muttered bitterly.
“You’re preaching to the choir sister,” Sergio responded as he flopped down on the bench next to me.
“You don’t have to be here, you know.” I knew how much he hated hospitals even before the stabbing that had kept him for months. “You should go out, have a bit of fun.”
“I don’t mind... Really,” he added when I gave him a look. “I’m just... really happy you’re okay, I don’t mind spending my time in here if I get to help you out. I feel bad for Charlie though, he has to watch you when you’re sleeping.”
“Sounds like he’s Santa Clause.”
“Or a pervert.”
I gave him a weak swat. The slight movement and I could tell exactly where the bullet had gone in. “So while we’re on break,” I prodded, “what’s going on?”
He gave a shrug, “Adam and Ceasario have been gone a lot. They come and then they go, sometimes they’re gone for days... Uncle Enzo’s in Italy, I think Dad is thinking about sending us back again.”
“No,” the word was out of my mouth before I had thought to say it. I should have nodded, but instead a flat out refusal.
“I thought you missed Gran and Gramps.”
“I do.” I responded sadly, “but I love this city. I love the people in this city. I don’t want to go... Dad can’t just keep sending us away when things get bumpy.”
“Agreed. Oh, Max and Faith broke up again.”
“What?” I put my head in my hands, “Again?”
Sergio laughed, “yeah, again. Faith is right pissed, neither are really saying what happened, but both are claiming to be the dumper rather than the dumpee, but neither is saying it was mutual, so one of them is lying.”
“Great, Max is so miserable with out her.”
“Why do you think I’m here in a hospital with you rather than at home?” I give him a swat and he laughs and hangs his arm lightly over my shoulder, “come on, you got to get walking again, the nurse is coming.”

Kara buried herself in homework, it kept out annoying thoughts and depressing ones.
“God, it’s Friday.” Lexie said as she intruded on her sisters space with out knocking. “And you’re eyes deep in... Algebra?” Lexie shook her head, “lame.”
“Shouldn’t you be out with Darren?”
“We broke up, remember? He dumped me, my revenge by getting with Gav? Any of this ringing any bells?”
Kara sat up from her hutched position and rubbed her temples, “yeah, sorry.”
“Whatever, they are out at some ski lodge for the weekend, I’m going, come with me.”
“I can’t...” Kara rubbed her the bridge of her nose and looked at her sister. “Don’t you have homework to do, and besides, they’re in Ontario! You’re not going to drive all that way, you don’t have a car, or the money.”
“Wrong, it’s only like four to six hours- I google maped it. I borrowed Mom’s car, and I’m hoping that being the good sister you are, you’ll loan me the money you have stashed away.”
“Why?” Kara screamed which surprised Lexie. “Why should I help you get revenge on Darren? Why should I help you hurt Gavin? Why should I help you be more of a selfish, undeserving bitch!”
Lexie watched her sister closely. Her cheeks were bright red with the tantrum, but above that, Kara had swore. Lexie raised an eyebrow. “Whatever, I’ll borrow Nick’s Visa.” Nick, their mother’s boyfriend. She turned on her heel but Kara caught her arm and stopped her.
Kara pulled out her interact, “the pin’s 6941.”
Lexie gave a little grin, “thanks! Have fun with... that.”
Kara, as much as she was angry at that moment with Lexie, she wouldn’t let her sister owe that creep.
