This is like a One Shot, as if Marianna and Xavier would be together for Christmas…Well at least not for the Christmas that’s coming up in the story.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I heard the doorbell ring downstairs, expecting it to be Xavier. I ran down stairs hearing Christmas jingles as my father changed some presents under the tree. As in replaced them with others. I rolled my eyes and opened the door wishing it were Xavier.
Instead of Xavier it was Anna wearing all blue. She gave me a huge grin and said,
“Merry Christmas!” And hugged me tightly.
“You look like a blueberry.” I said when she let go of me.
“That’s not showing Christmas spirit. Christmas spirit isn’t making fun of people.” She mumbled.
I let her in and joined her in the living room. My father now had my mother in his arms and they were dancing together. Anna grinned again and offered me her hand. I took it and we joined them laughing all the way, ha ha ha. Then the doorbell rang again.
When I opened the door, Xavier was there smiling. He swooped me into his arms and kissed me lightly.
“Merry Christmas to you too.” I said breathlessly.
He laughed and we rejoined everyone in the living room. Jaiden and Anna were dancing together and Xavier and I danced. We were just finishing up when the door bell rang. Xavier followed me to the door and I opened it. I noticed I’ve been doing a lot of that lately. On the other side of the door was Jess. She like the others said merry Christmas.
“What took you so long? I thought you would be here before I even woke up.” I said.
“I was at the library. It’s like my sanctum.” Jess smiled.
“That’s lame. Why is the library open on Christmas?” Xavier said.
“Who say’s lame anymore?” I asked while Jess shrugged.
Back in the living room, everyone stopped dancing.
“Where’d Jaiden go?” I asked after a while.
“Bathroom.” Anna said cheerily.
“Why?”
“Oh him? Uh…too much eggnog.” My mom said.
I laughed and went to finish dinner. After dinner we had presents. I got everything I wanted and needed. I mean, I couldn’t live without new crayons. I don’t understand how some people do. But Xavier did surprise me with two boxes. One contained something very beautiful, that I can’t tell you. The other was a mistletoe. Xavier hung it above our heads and smirked. I laughed as he bent down to kiss me deeply.
And that’s when I knew it was the perfect Christmas.
