Boot Camp For Terribly Twisted Teens [Chapter 34] Classification and Family
“There are many different classifications of the gifted,” Lily went on to tell them as she lead them through the facility. Nick and Liam had filled her in on their friends, their powers, and their journey. “Necromancers like myself, Claire, and Mary. Elementals like you two are and Nina would also be in that category for altering air. Powerhouses like your friends Thayne and Robyn. Mindmaps like Leon.”
“Rick wouldn’t be a mindmap?” Liam asked.
“While using the powers of the mind, his mind is far more advanced, he can predict things, and if you can do that, we classify you as a Sensitive, like Scott who can predict death. Mindmaps actually interfere with someone else’s mind, can read it, or alter it, Janet would be in that category. I would say J.C would also be a mindmap directing her ability to the part of the brain that triggers exhaustion.”
“Would Anna be a mindmap?”
“It’s hard to tell,” Lily responded. “I haven’t seen her power for myself. If her alternates can interact with people and physically harm them, then no, if so then yes. It would be just as likely she would be Intune.”
“Intune?” Nick questioned quietly.
“Intunes are ‘in tune with their body’ those that can pick a part of themselves and advance it. Anna is very special among them if she is one, thrusting a new body out is advancement to the max, I’ve only seen one person ever do it, so I would say it is more likely she is a Mindmap and alters others perceptions to make them see the multiples. A proper example of and Intune would be your friend Hawkeye, advancing his vision to the extremes. In time he’ll be able to push other parts of him to be better as well. You also have a shifter which is an odd addition, there aren’t many, but that would be Hiro’s classification”
The Kennedy Corporation has been trying to put together teams that range the spectrum use the chips to advance their powers to the extremes and sell them off to the highest bidder to be soldiers.” Lily continued. “It’s good that your friends Anna and Mary left your group though, if that is indeed what happened. They have no Necromancers, nor Intunes unless they have captured others...”
“Lily, we’ve gotten Marco to agree to look for your daughter,” Janet said as she stood at the end of the hallway the three were heading down.
“Thank goodness,” Lily breathed a sigh of relief and followed Janet. “Marco is an old sensitive, while most sensitives just pick up on things, he can choose to look for certain things. Very useful.”
They entered a hospital type room. A man lay there, week and elderly hooked up to machines. “Hello Lily,” Marco said, “come close.”
Liam and Nick stayed awkwardly at the door as Lily came forward and sat on the side of the bed. Marco placed his hand on hers and her head bowed. Nick and Liam looked to each other then back to Lily and Marco.

Screams echoed through the woods. Inside the cave Hawkeye was cleaning Claire’s burns with a torn part of his shirt in warmed water. Rick was sitting close by staring blankly into the fire. Hawkeye had tried talking to him, but Rick was unresponsive. Since then Hawkeye had seen to Claire who had awaken. The smoke had made her voice rough, and her screams were loud despite the ache in her lungs.
“How bad are they?” Claire whispered meekly.
Hawkeye, with his superb vision could see the dust, ash, and dirt in the wounds and he continued cleaning them carefully. Claire bit her bottom lip to keep from screaming out again. “They are bad,” Hawkeye admitted. “I’m sorry this is the best I can do.”
“Thank you,” Claire whispered back, “what is he doing?” She wondered outloud and Hawkeye followed her gaze to Rick.
“I think he’s watching our futures.”
Claire went back to looking up at the top of the cave, odd stones that dripped every so often. It wasn’t pleasant. She wished she was home.
“I wonder...” Claire whispered out loud, “how the others are... if any of them got away.”
Hawkeye doubted it, he’d seen them be knocked unconscious as they were driving away in the boat, he stayed silent though not wanting to further upset Claire. Rick screamed out and grabbed his head, Hawkeye was on his feet in seconds and Claire’s head whipped to look at Rick through the fire. “Rick?” Hawkeye went over and touched his friend on the shoulder. “What is going on?”
“Someone is looking for us,” Rick mustered through gritted teeth, “it’s hurting my head.”
“Looking for us?” Hawkeye spoke, “can you communicate with that person?”
“The hell if I know,” Rick responded still holding his head in his hands. Rick stood up suddenly and looked around, “Claire.”
Claire looked to Hawkeye then to Rick who knelt down beside her. “It’s going to be okay, I’m coming for you.”
“Who is?” Claire whispered.
“Your mother Claire.” Rick dropped unconscious to the stone floor and all Claire and Hawkeye could do was stare.

“I know where she is,” Lily said finally as Marco’s hand slid off of hers. “A cave not far off the Burn Cally Trails. I’ve been there before.”
It wasn’t long before they were all in one of the Carlin Institute’s vans. “I need to stop by home first,” Lily said as they entered town, “I think it’s time I came clean with my husband.”
“What if he doesn’t believe you?” Nick asked.
Lily shrugged, “he’s already called me everything in the book, put me in an asylum. I need to see Cory too.”
“I’ve got a question,” Nick spoke quietly, “can you put Daniel’s spirit back in his body?”
Lily sighed, “no, Necromancers come in many different forms. Those that can raise bodies and reanimate and control them are in a sub-category of Puppet Masters like Mary. Those that can communicate with the dead are Spirit Phones, which is what I am. Then there are the Soul Masters, those that can communicate, control, send on, or shove back into their bodies, I believe from what you’ve told me of my daughter, that is what she can do. I couldn’t send on Daniel, nor put him back in his body. Besides it seems he’s attached himself to Claire.”
They drove in silence for a while longer before pulling into the familiar driveway. “Come on,” Lily whispered as she opened the door and walked up the steps onto the porch. She stood there awkwardly like deciding wether to knock or just walk in. She finally grabbed the door knob and walked in. There on the couch was Cory watching cartoons.
“Mom?” Cory ran to her and squeezed her tight.
“Oh baby,” she picked him up with ease and laughter before putting him back on his feet.
“Lily,” she looked over her son to her husband. “What are you doing here?”
“What are you doing sending our daughter to boot camp?”
“She needed it.”
“She’s gifted, like I am.”
“Oh Lily.”
“It’s true, I can communicate with the dead, see them, hear them. Claire can to. Think about it before you say anything.” Lily spoke quickly and with conviction, “you’ve got to have heard her talking to herself.”
“She was drinking, staying out late, partying.”
“A teenage coping mechanism!”
“No, it’s a problem... Cory, go to your room.”
“No!”
“Cory!”
“Leave him be!” Lily argued, “It’s what I can do, it’s what Claire can do.”
“I don’t believe this!”
Nick rolled up his sleeve and his hand caught fire, there was a gasp from Cory and Joshua. “Unbelievable.”
“Believe it.” Lily argued.
“No, this can’t be.”
“I’m fast mom!” Cory said proudly before zipping around faster than anyone’s eyes could keep up.
“Oh my,” Lily put her hand over her mouth, her son was a sensitive advancing his leg muscles to the extreme to give him speed.
“If he can do that, it would stand to reason Daniel could to?” Nick asked.
“Family is a big part of is, and gender. Same powers and opposing ones within families have proven to be common. Claire being born female gave her the highest probability of being like me. While the special genes got distorted in a male which in tune made Cory a sensitive, I would bet that Daniel is just like him.”
“This is unbelievable.”
“We have to go to Claire,” Lily said, “she’s injured.”
“Yes... do take us to Claire.” They turned to see a man in a business suit encircled by familiar faces.
