Boot Camp For Terribly Twisted Teens [Chapter 29] Battle of the Necromancers
“Mary, stop!” I screamed as the maggoty corpse was saggaring toward me.
“You’d be surprised where you find allies,” Mary said with a wicked smiled nudging her head to her rotting new friend. “The dead are stuffed everywhere. Murders, gangs, serial killers. They make finding help pretty easy. Wonder which one this guy fell victim to?” Mary let out a bit of laughter that made my skin crawl.
“Let everyone out, okay.” I said the shadows still lingered but were fading, I wasn’t angry enough.
“Everyone but you can leave, you’re the weak link, they don’t want to admit it, but weak links need to be taken care of.”
“Mary!” Anna shrieked, “please stop this!”
“Back off Anna!” Mary screamed turning on her sister while the corpse still came for me.
“Everyone leave,” I yelled at them.
“This place is burning down!” The spirit yelled at me, “dumbasses got to the boss, realized they needed to destroy the evidence, burn the bathroom down! You need to get out or die!”
“I know,” I whispered back.
“What did you say?” Mary asked whirling on me.
“Nothing.”
“Bull shit.”
“Nick get everyone out.”
“I’m not leaving you here.”
“Remember that leader thing? Tough decisions. This is that decision. Get everyone out. You know it’s the right thing to do. I’ll be okay.”
“You sure.”
“Ye of little faith.”
“Stop talking!” Mary shouted.
Nick ushered people out, Leon refused, as did Anna.
“I’m not leaving Claire,” Leon argued, while at the same time Anna argued, “I’m not leaving my sister.”
The corpse came forward I dodged it, and Mary screamed at me, she became more precise, better movement with the corpse. It was the battle of the Necromancers. I grasped to the shadows and pushed them forward but they went right through the corpse and completely missed Mary. Apparently shadows don’t work on shells.
“Damn it!”
The corpse lunged and I was yanked my the collar of my shirt. I looked up and seen Leon, “get out of here!” I spoke determined, “this isn’t your fight.”
“Yeah well, it isn’t hers either,” Leon said nodding toward Anna, who had begun duplicating herself. The copies pried themselves from her torso head first I was shocked open mouth watching when the corpses hands grabbed me and whipped me with strength equal to that of Thayne. I hit the mirror and it shattered, my vision tunnelled for a second before returning fully, I shook my head and I could hear glass shards falling to the counter top and bouncing off the wall.
Leon was trying to get Anna down to one duplicate and was trying to make eye contact with the right one. The corpse got me again and I pushed at it, screaming and kicking. It’s teeth bit right through my flesh and into my muscle and I could feel it start to pull away ripping it slowly with it. Howling, scared and freaking out something happened very quickly the corpse released it’s death hold on my arm (luckily not taking flesh with it, just leaving insanely deep teeth marks as it gushed blood) and stood there staring at me, then down at it’s self, and in the same voice as the spirit that had warned me of the fire it spoke, “what did you do! Get me out of this maggot infested thing, oh God they are moving!”
“I don’t know how, I don’t know how.”
“What did you do!” Mary screamed, realizing her puppet was now under it’s own control.
There was another question I had no answer to. I had no remedy for this, I had no idea what I had done, no idea how to cure it either.
All the Anna’s finally just plopped down on their collective ass, and suddenly Leon punched the unsuspecting Mary right in the jaw knocking her unconscious. “Grab Mary or leave her,” Leon said, “I’ll get the real Anna.”
I looked down at Mary. “Hey you going to get me out of this thing?”I could smell smoke. The fire had lit up the room, the heat didn’t bother me. Neither did the smoke. I could see through it Leon hauling Anna over his shoulder. “Are you listening?” The soul in the corpse asked with a shrieking high voice that was awkward on a man. I kicked Mary lightly in the foot. “Just leave the bitch and get me out of this.”
“I don’t know how,” I finally responded to it.
“Don’t know how bitch?” The corpse grabbed me and pinned me against the wall, “know what I was in life? A damn good mobster. Wanna loose some fingers bitch? Want to burn to death? I’ll make sure you burn before you die of smoke inhalation.”
My hands were around the decaying wrist of the monster, trying to pry it away. The door was on fire now. I guess I didn’t have to think about saving Mary now. I guess I didn’t have to worry about the guilt. I guess my hair wasn’t that big of a deal after all, I only had it dyed for a few seconds. I begged to feel the shadows, but they refused me.
Then again, when I felt angered, determined I felt them, not when I am weak, or scared.
I musted anger.
My brother was in a hospital and if I didn’t live neither would he, after he saved my life, I better not waste it. My father took me to Kennedy Boot Camp, I could easily remember that betrayal. My little brother would be left with only my father, his mother and older siblings gone. I will make Nick feel guilty since I made him leave, cause that’s the kind of guy he is. I’ll never get to see my friends, my family, never have a normal life, never get the ring to Angelo’s old girlfriend.
The shadows latched to me, and why they couldn’t hurt a shell...
I blasted out the shadows and the corpse went blasting through the engulfed door busting it off it’s hinges. I fell to the floor, I used the shadows to pick up Mary and navigate her through the door safely (even though I had the urge to catch her hair on fire.)
With all the use of my power I was to exhausted to make it to my feet and with all the fire there was no one who could rescue me. I could hear the fire trucks, I wondered how they would explain a talking, burning, corpse to the police. Or if they would run before they got here. Of course they could. I could hear Leon yelling, I could hear Nick yelling something back while everyone else was either stunned silent or just screaming in general. I couldn’t make it out.
I wondered now... if I would become a ghost. The burning girl.
Torment some necromancer.
Become an angered spirit.
I coughed up blood.
I could feel the heat now.
My flesh was bubbling but my throat was so coated in ash I couldn’t scream.
I hoped that I hurried up and died already burning to death really sucks.
