“Don’t ask questions.” Gemma dictated to the slightly shorter woman.
“Look, I can’t help you. You need to bring this... medical emergency to the emergency room.” Jessica tried to insist to the impatient woman who’d grabbed her arm with more force than a teenager normally should have managed when she exited the hospital after her double shift. “Look the medical emergency is Ceasario DeLuca, maybe you remember him.”
From the gasp at his name Gemma knew Jessica remembered perfectly well. “Take him to the doctors, they can help. I’m just a nurse, there are limits to what I can do. I have no supplies.”
“Don’t worry about supplies.” She stopped at a beat up blue truck. “Get in.”
“Look, you need to...” Jessica stopped trying to reason with the girl with the blonde halo of curls when she pointed a gun right between her eyebrows.
“I said get in.” Gemma said, her voice strong, unwavering under the stress. She held strong. She’d hold, she had to. Shaking Jessica opened the door and got in, sliding to the middle since the blonde was coming in after and a blonde man was driving. “Step on it.”
“I remember you,” Jessica whispered looking at the man. “You’re like the Lombardi security detail. Please, let me go.”
“Didn’t you take an oath to help people?” Preston asked not taking his eyes off the road. “That’s what you’re doing, you’re going to help Ceasario.”
“You can’t just kidnap me. Why? Why are you doing this.”
Preston sighed, Atlas’s burden upon his shoulders. “Because he’s our friend. He can’t go to the hospital right now.” He looked past Jessica to Gemma, “I called the boss, he knows what is going on, he won’t be there.”
“What?” Gemma’s face flushed with anger. “Why not!”
“Out of town on business.”
“Ah, fuck.” Gemma ran her free hand down her jeans.
“Auntie?” Gemma asked.
“Unavailable for assistance, don’t ask me why, but Boss told me not to involve her. She’s still super worried about Lil.”
“You guys kidnap people often?” Jessica burst. “Seriously, this is not normal.”
“You have no idea,” Preston muttered rubbing his tired eyes keeping one hand on the wheel.

Gavin’s night had been something from a very strange movie. Honestly it came to him in bits and pieces. When he’d gotten to his room, Lexie had been inside. It had been infuriating to say the very least. She’d gotten up and done something very out of character. Apologised.
He rubbed his temples remembering...
“You can’t just come in to my room! How’d you get a key?”
“I told them I was with you and I’d forgotten mine! Okay, I just... I screwed up Gav, I know that, I was pissed about the Darren breaking up with me thing... I needed to make sure we were okay.” He’d thrown up his hands and was about to protest when she’d pushed his hands down and spoke. “Please, just listen, if you want me out after, fine I’ll go.” She’d stayed calm and he’d waited. “I’m sorry. I was fuming mad about Darren, I went after you for petty revenge. You’re one of my best friends, and I already feel like I lost Dare... I don’t want to loose you too because I was stupid.”
“Very stupid.”
She’d smiled just slightly, “very, very stupid.”
“Moronic even.”
She’d crossed her arms over her chest, “lets not push it.” She’d looked down and away for a moment before looking back to him, “we good?”
“Yeah, we’re good.”
“Drinks?” She plucked a bottle of Whisky from her bag. “My dad’s so we know it’s crazy expensive and older than me or Kara.” She singsonged while swinging it back and forth.
“One drink.” Gavin agreed.
How many drinks had passed? Gavin felt ill as he sat up in bed. “Shit.” The hangover from hell had him in it’s grasps and the room swayed as his brain tried to figure out which was up and which was down. Left and right became blurred and his stomach content swirled in a sick manner that hand him vaulting himself to the washroom. Puking his guts out made him feel monumentally better, but left a distorted taste in his mouth. Brushing his teeth helped, so did splashing cold water on his face, still he knew he’d be eating soda crackers and hanging out in his room for the majority of the day. It was the only way to deal with the headache and stomach sloshing.
The thought of skiing made nearly made him turn back to the washroom.
He pushed back some of his hair, and stepped into the bedroom again, the bed was a mess, and a blonde mass of hair had the other side of his bed. Along with silky white skin. He hadn’t thought anything of waking up naked, he didn’t often wear pajamas. But now. The sick feeling came back to him. What had he done?

I was getting stronger, my body didn’t ache nearly as much but there was a star-burst scar where the bullet had ripped into me. No exit wound, it got stuck in the fleshy part and the doctors had to pluck it out. Sergio had brought me my phone, not that you’re allowed to have it on in the hospital, but I walked out the back door and took a seat on the bench, winded in a way I’d never been on a walk. I was a track star, and now walking down a hallway left me breathless, honestly it was embarrassing!
I wanted to call Gavin. To see how his trip was going. Was it going well? Was he having fun with the boys skiing? “Interrupt boys night?” She whispered. She checked her watch. “Just a quick text, that’s not clingy... and we’re just friends right. Not a big deal.” She stopped a moment, “aw fuck I really like him.”
“Who?”
I jumped, but recognized the voice. Blaire sat beside me, she looked lovely in her distressed denim capris and belted top. “No one,” I muttered to which Blaire laughed.
“Gavin. Please honey, everyone knows, except maybe you. And Gavin. And your dad, but lets face it, even he might have figured it out.”
“Lets hope not,” I respond leaning my head against her shoulder.
“How are you feeling? Well since you’re outside I hope.”
“Pretty good, doctor says I’m healing nicely, should be out soon. Thank god. I want a big plate of spaghetti... and garlic bread. Lots of garlic bread.”
“Stop that, I haven’t had lunch yet,” Blaire teased with a smile. Her ringtone played and she checked the message. Her face became worried and serious. “I have to go.” She quickly kissed the top of my head and power walked into the hospital. I wanted to follow, but knew I wouldn’t be able to catch up. What happened?

Matteo waited and opened the double doors when Adam’s car pulled in, he rushed out and helped Adam carry his wounded brother from now bloodied interior to the house. Blood droplets flecked the outside and into the house. The medical room was in the basement, mostly so people wouldn’t see it, like... cops that liked to search the premises. The basement stairwell was hidden behind a book case, which Preston got before Matteo had even realized they’d arrived, Gemma and the nurse lady his brother had been sweet on in tow. When the girl paled at the wooden stairs into the basement Gemma pointed the gun at her again giving the slight motion with the gun for Jessica to follow the boys down. Everyone in the basement it lit up and it didn’t seem basementish at all. It looked like a small scaled hospital. They brought him into the first room and put him on a slab.
“Can’t we take him to a real doctor?” Matteo’s voice cracked even as he tried to keep it together. “Why can’t we? Lil is still at a hospital! If she’s there why can’t he go!”
“Ceasar’s on a list now.” Preston said. “A list that sends him to a maximum security prison alright. So we do this here.”
“Fix him,” Gemma ordered shoving the girl forward. “If he dies... he won’t be alone.”
The click of the safety coming off unnerved the girl, her fingers trembling as she got to work. Her life depended on her saving another. “I need more supplies.”
“Which was anticipated.” Sergio said coming in, he and Blaire holding bags of medical supplies.
“We didn’t know what would be needed.” Blaire said softly to Jessica gently touching her shaking arm. “We tried to take one of everything.” Blaire started setting out the supplies so Jessica could see what she had to work with. “You should get to work, Gem is a little twitchy with her trigger finger.” Jessica swallowed hard, steeled her spine and finally understood why Ceasario always seemed to avoid his profession.

Ivan sat at the bus stop. When the bus had came, he hadn’t got on it. He just sat there. He’d washed the blood off in Gemma’s house the best he could, but it stained the cuffs of his shirt so badly he’d taken it off and tossed it in a public trash can, wore his jacket fully done up. Blood still lingered on his cuticles despite the scrubbing and it made him feel sick inside. He had no doubts about what the Lombardi’s did now. Where did that leave him? A loose end?
Gemma had grabbed a gun before she’d left. Would she use it on him now that he knew too much. He decided not to go home, he caught the first bus, not caring where it went, he needed to get lost, and it wasn’t hard to do in New York.
