Dusk .::Chapter 23::. Soar
Calum was stuck, his neck had healed up but he just couldn’t bring himself to rip Aerabella away from his arm as she held fast with an iron grip as she drank from his wrists. Maverick wasn’t of any help either, he just stood watching with a grin plastered upon his face.
“Aerabella, please, you have to stop,” Calum tried talking to her, soothing her. His hand, still soaked with his own blood from his neck, stroked her hair in a calming manner. “Your parents are here, why don’t we get you cleaned up, a bag of blood and let you go see them?”
He caught here eyes, more colour had come back to them, ebbing back into her irises. She unlatched her teeth slowly as she watched him. She smudged the blood on her mouth with the back of her hand, and even for a vampire, Calum thought it was a little creepy. She still didn’t seem to know what was going on, she looked dazed and confused as she breathed heavily.
“Is she okay?” Calum asked Maverick keeping his eyes on Aerabella.
Maverick gave a shrug of his shoulders, “she’ll be fine. Probably will think twice about talking back to the elders, but fine.” Calum nodded and stood a little shakily, earning a chuckle from Maverick. “You on the other hand... might be less than fine with the amount of blood you let her take from you.”
“What was I suppose to do, I’m not a monster like you.”
Maverick smirked like he knew something Calum didn’t, “you might just be surprised how much you’re like me.”
“Drop dead.” He turned his attention back to Aerabella who sat on her knees in a slightly broken looking position, blood down the front of her shirt, her hair matted with the red goo her mouth swiped with pink, staining her pale skin. “Can you get up?”
She tilted her head slightly and stared.
“Seriously, what did you do to her?”
Maverick sighed and rolled his eyes, “her brain only has enough blood and oxygen currently to keep basic body functions running, she probably understands what we are, but not who. Probably understands blood is yummy, and the ground is not food. Get her some blood she’ll be fine.” His beeper went off, “well, I bid you two good bye.”
“Come on,” Calum grabbed Aerabella’s arm and lifted her petite frame to her feet, holding her there he lead her out of the cell, she seemed to have trouble walking, concentrating on her feet, and stumbling more like she didn’t know what she was doing than from blood loss, her legs seemed to be supporting her weight just fine. He brought her up to his grandfather’s place and used his key to get in, “Gramps?” He called out but got no response. He was secretly a little glad his grandfather wasn’t there. Then he’d have to explain why he was bringing Aerabella here. Henry would probably then remind him of Olivia and ask him what she would think about all of this. Calum sighed, “this way.”
He lead her into the bathroom, lifted her and sat her down on the counter top. He got out a cloth and wet it with hot water, ringing it out and touched her face with it. She swatted his hand at first, but he grabbed it and pinned it down before attempting again to wipe the blood from her face. At first she seemed panicked, but then she just sat there, a little bored looking as he cleaned her up. He tried to get some of it out of her hair, but he’d have to dump her in the bathtub to get any real results so he sighed and left it. Vivian would help her daughter, he knew.
“Wait here.” He told her and left to the kitchen. Opening the refrigerator he found a pack of AB negative and turned around, he jumped and held his heart. “Shit, Jesus...” He let out a breath as his two hearts thudded away. “Aerabella, I told you to stay.” She tilted her head again, and stared at him with wide confused eyes before they zeroed in on the blood bag. He caught her looking and brought it to her. “Eat it.” She reached out slowly, like she though he might jerk it away. Once her hands were on it she ripped it out of his hands and turned away from him, but he could smell the blood in the air as her teeth pierced the bag. He grabbed another on and put it on the counter for her before sitting on a stool and hoping she came back whole.

Wolfgang showered off the dirt as he sang Separate Ways by Journey, his favourite shower song. “Someday love will find you, break those chains that bind you, one night will remind you!” He grabbed the shampoo and lathered his hair. “If he ever hurts you, true love won’t desert you, you know, I’ll still love you!” He played air drums as he rinsed off. He hit the shower knob stopping the shower, he opened the curtain and wrapped the hanging towel around his waist.
Getting dressed quick, he realized he was soon going to need to go shopping. He cringed. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad... he could ask Harmony to go with him, or Aerabella... “Or she might be with Calum the big smancy vampire.” He muttered bitterly to himself. He played with the rip in the knees of his jeans, Harmony would surely deck him out in something uncomfortably nice. She’d probably want him to try on... slacks. Shuddering his threw a t-shirt over his head and slammed the dresser drawers.
He grabbed the phone, if he called and invited the twins, Harmony could help him find pants and he could ask Hayden about the sleepwalking. Two birds, one stone. Nodding to himself he punched in their number and got their father, Paul on the phone. “Hey Paul, is Hayden or Harmy around?”
“‘Fraid they’re still sleepin’ Wolfgang. Your parents around?”
Wolfgang was surprised by the question, sure Paul knew his parents but they didn’t socialize with each other much. “No, Dad’s at work, and Mom’s visiting her sister in New Hampshire... something wrong?”
“Yes, afraid so Wolfgang. We think their might be a rogue wolf hanging around.”
“What?” Panic kicked up inside of Wolfgang, there hadn’t been a rogue around since his birth.
“Lilian was attacked last night, transference to Harmony, they’re both healing up nicely, but they’re both groggy and tired.”
“What? Why would anyone attack Lilian?” The twins mother was one of the nicest ladies Wolfgang knew.
“Rogues rarely do something for a purpose. Maybe it’s decided our territory is it’s and...” He heard Paul sigh, “the council is getting together, tell your father to be there, midnight tonight.”
“Yeah,” Wolfgang responded slowly, “I’ll tell him. Give Lilian and Harmy my best.”
“I will, g’bye.”
“Bye.” He hung up the phone with shaking hands.

Zakia awoke for the second morning to find Jacques sleeping quietly beside her. She moved slightly, her coffin to short for her liking, her custom work had yet to come in. She managed to get up onto her side to watch him, she poked his stomach and he stirred awake. “Aerabella gets out today.”
“We won’t be allowed to see her.” Jacques replied quietly. “I’m sure Michael will forbid anyone to see her till she’s recuperated.”
Zakia snuggled up to him, resting her head on his chest, her arm splayed across him. “If my parents knew you were here...”
“They’d rip out both my hearts.”
She smiled, “we need to sneak you out before they wake.”
“I’d much rather just stay here like this.”
“Me too.” She replied quietly as she drew little circles on his chest with her fingertips. “Want to meet up for lunch?”
“Sure, where?”
“Ashnite mines?” She suggested, “it’s always deserted during the day. I’ll bring a picnic.”
He smiled pushing up the lid to the coffin slightly to peek out first before pushing it up on it’s hinges. “Sounds good, but seriously, you need to get the double coffin, this is ridiculous.”
He held out a hand to help her out and she grinned, “I’ve got a new one on order, I think you’ll like it.” She said before kissing him slightly on the lips, a test, a taste. He kissed her back and her heart soared.
