Dusk .::Chapter 12::. Altered Memories
“What if they drink from the keg?” Jacques asks.
“Well they’ll know it’s spiked with something,” Scarlet responded grabbing a towel from the pile and wrapping it around her, she grabs another and passes it to me which I fumbled slightly with before tucking it down the end between my breasts. “You wolves should leave,” Scarlet said decidedly. “We’ll take care of this.”
“A bunch of drunk vampires with three humans, yeah, sounds like a awesome plan,” Wolfgang responded with a roll of his eyes. He crossed his arms stubbornly over his chest. “If you want Aries to stay, you’re just going to have to put up with us till the humans are gone.”
Scarlet didn’t like to be told what to do, and in a sober state, she probably would have demanded they left her property, or she would have taken care of them herself. Since she was intoxicated she stared him down for a minute before looking to Zakia, “could you take care of them?”
Zakia stood, “yes.”
“Why do I get the feeling this will be bad?” Wolfgang asked looking to me.
“Nothing bad will happen,” I assured, “she’ll just alter their memories.”
“Doesn’t she have to bite them to do that?”
“Well...” I looked around trying to avoid the answer. I could hear Wolfgang curse, Hayden shifting his weight and Skyler looking anywhere but the vampires he detested. “You should leave, Scarlet’s right, we’ll take care of this.”
“No way.”
Zakia stood behind me, “I’m only one person, we need to alter them at the same time, I need two others that can do it too.” She looked directly at me and I pointed to myself with an eyebrow raised. Zakia nodded, “you aren’t too intoxicated... well... not as intoxicated as everyone else.” She then proceed to look at Faust, “you could do it too I believe.”
Faust stood from his place in the hot tub gently moving Marlowe off his shoulder and stepping out. “I’m not as bad off as everyone else I guess.”
“Then it’s settled,” Scarlet said with a swift nod. “Who’s going to take who?”
“I’ll take Kayleb,” Zakia said quickly, “he looks like he’d put up the most fight, I’m not going to let the drunk ones take him on... Aerabella should take Ethan, he already seems to have a little crush on her it should make it easy.” Zakia turned her attention to Faust, “that leaves you with Duke.”
“Yeah, this’ll be awkward,” Faust muttered, “why can’t hot chicks ever crash a party?”
I looked to Wolfgang, “everything will be fine, just wait here, it won’t take long.” I probably would have been more nervous thinking about biting a human had I been sober, would have thought about the inability to stop, or what if with my lack of focus, I couldn’t completely alter the memories. Still I walked with a drunken sense of confidence as I walked with Zakia and Faust to the sliding doors Ethan, Duke and Kayleb were still standing at.
“Hello,” Zakia greeted. “I don’t believe you three were invited.”
“Yeah well,” Kayleb gave a shrug of his shoulders accompanied by a smirk.
“How did you find this place?” Zakia asked establishing eye contact with Kayleb and touching his arm lightly.
“Student files, they aren’t exactly guarded.”
“Why don’t we show you guys around,” Faust suggested before taking the towel off my body and I couldn’t help but glare sharply at him and give him a quick kidney shot. “OW! The towel bin is at the door, geeze,” he shot it into the bin with all the other used towels and I realized why, Ethan was focussed now completely and totally on me.
I put on a fake smile and swallowed down a shot of nervousness. “Yes, let us show you around.” I put my arm around his and lead him into the house.
“Where are the drinks at?” Kayleb asked.
Zakia smiled, “let me show you where Scarlet’s parents keep the good stuff,” she looked over her shoulder leading him to the door I knew led to the basement. “We’ll meet up with you guys later.”
“You should see the games room,” Faust said clamping a hand down on Duke, “bet I can thrash you at the fooseball table!”
“Dude, you’re screwed,” Duke agreed.
“I’ll put five bucks on my winning.”
“You’re on, it’ll be the easiest five bucks I’ve ever made,” Duke accepted and Faust lead him to the gym room.
“What would you like to see?” I asked him.
“I’m already looking at what I came here for.” Ethan smiled his eyes grazing over my body in a way that put a pit in my stomach.
I swallowed nervously before taking his hand slowly, gently. “Would you like to see more?” I tempted. I seen his adam’s apple bob and he nodded. I lead him toward Scarlet’s room and hoped some young lovers had yet to claim it. I opened the door slowly and peeked in, no one was there and I opened it wider pulling him in, shutting the door, and locking it behind us.
He grabbed me behind the neck and pressed his lips hard against mine. I didn’t react, I couldn’t, I simply pushed him back lightly. “What’s wrong?” He asked.
“No-nothing.” I could feel myself sobering, the beers I’d had hours ago fading quick. “But I’m already nearly naked.” I enticed. “And here you are, still all bundled in clothing, that hardly seems fair.” I grabbed his shirt and stepped around him forcing him to turn as well and then slowly walked him into the wall. I could hear his heart jackhammering in his chest, blood pumping though his veins. I kept my lips tightly together as my second set of teeth slashed through, my own blood filling my mouth before I swallowed it down.
He was already unbuttoning his shirt when I ran my hands over his chest kissing his collarbone. On my tiptoes it was as high as I could get and I felt nervous, I couldn’t even reach his neck. His shirt dropped from his shoulders and I grabbed his hand leading him to Scarlet’s bed, and I hoped I didn’t get blood on it. I sat him down before straddling him. He looked up at me, wide eyed and surprised. “I didn’t think... you’d be like this.”
I ran my fingers down his throat locating his strong jugular with my fingertips first before placing little kisses there. A hand trailed down my back and cupped a buttock forcing me closer to his body. “Ethan?”
“Yes?” He responded his voice no more than a whisper.
“I’m real sorry about this.”
I could hear a small laugh, “about what?”
Piercing the skin with my fangs and holding tightly around his waist with one arm and around his neck with the other keeping him in place and making it impossible for him to push me off of him. He cried out a mangled scream and I drank his blood, he moaned quietly and I retracted my fangs before I killed him. It took a conscientious effort though. I wiped my mouth before licking the last drops from the wounds. I let go of him and he fell backward onto Scarlet’s bedspread.
“Ethan?” I whispered.
“What are you?” he whispered back opening his eyes slightly.
I put my hands on either side of his head still straddling him I looked him deep in the eyes, and with his blood still coursing through my veins I forced him to continue staring back into mine. “Ethan, you aren’t to remember any of tonight. You don’t remember coming to Scarlet’s, seeing me or any of my friends, and you don’t remember me biting you, or any of what I am saying. All of tonight will be nothingness, darkness, a blank. You stayed at your house, you... played video games all night.”
“Video games,” he repeated weakly.
“Yes, now go home, and don’t remember any of this.”
I got off of him and he left the room in a daze. I rubbed my temples, blood still coating my mouth, Ethan’s blood. I went to the bathroom to ensure I didn’t have any blood on my face before heading back to the hot tub.
