Sweeter Than Heaven [Supernatural] Hotter Than Hell (13) Beg
“That’s stupid Audrey! Big Foot doesn’t exist.” Gabriel insisted as he sipped his coffee while reading the paper.
“Don’t call me stupid, stupid.” I retorted sleepily, my insults always sucked when I was tired. “And with all the things we’ve seen, who knows? All I’m saying is Big Foot could possibly be real.”
“All hunters know Big Foot isn’t real,” Bobby interjected wheeling up to the table.
“Well unlike you close minded boys, I choose too keep mine open.” With that the debate ended. No one was likely to change their minds about the subject, and that was just fine by me. I didn’t really care about what Gabriel or Bobby thought on the subject, it hardly mattered, it wasn’t like I was going to go out and try to prove them wrong by any means.
Bobby insisted that we stayed a few days. My body wasn’t up to protest, and Gabriel always had one eye on me considering the dizzy spells I had been prone to since the poisoning. “I’m getting really sick of this shit,” I muttered as I leaned against a desk till my equilibrium seemed up to keeping me on my feet. I continued over to the couch and flopped down and turned on the television. Bobby was in his office, and Gabriel was in the kitchen cooking supper. It was only going to be mashed potatoes and roast beef. It didn’t take rocket science.
The news came on and I turned it up a little as pictures flashed in the top corner. “...found murdered, it appears to be some form of animal attack... more on this story as it comes in.” I swallowed hard, it felt like a rock was sitting in my stomach.
“Gabe?” I spoke standing and then holding to the wall regaining my balance. Gabriel hurried out and grabbed my arm. “I’m okay,” I protested, but he assisted me to the chair in the kitchen.
“What’s up?” He asked reading my face. I’d had this look before. It was the kind of look that comes with a strong gut feeling.
“Did you hear on the news?”
“Yeah, you had it up loud enough,” he said with a small grin. “Guy was murdered.”
“I got a feeling it’s our kind of case.”
“Oh really,” Gabriel found the masher and started to hammer on the potatoes.
“I know you’re going to ask for evidence, but I don’t have any. It’s just a feeling.”
Gabriel sighed, “look, I know that you’re gut feelings are typically pretty accurate, but you’re in no shape to be hunting and I know you won’t let me go on my own.”
“Look at what happened last time when you did,” I dug referring to him going after Meg.
He cringed. “Look, you’re not going, and I’m going to take care of you till you get better. Another hunter will figure it out if it is a case in which needs investigating.”
I bite my bottom lip, “you know there aren’t many hunters, we’re spread thin as it is, and we’re close to the area in which it happened. Maybe we could just look into it. Just a little bit.”
“No Audrey! You can hardly walk from one room to another, you aren’t going anywhere!” His tone told me not to argue so I bit off the next part of my argument.
Supper was good, the potatoes were so angrily mashed that there were no lumps. Gabriel headed out to get some groceries since Bobby made a comment jokingly about us eating him out of house and home. He wheeled into the livingroom beside me on the couch. “Heard you and your brother arguing earlier.”
“I just have this gut feeling that the man who was murdered won’t be the last, and that it’s our kind of case.” I say sadly, “maybe you can help me convince my brother that I’m fine.”
“Your not though,” Bobby replied gruffly. “I’m not going to send you out into the world like this. You can hardly make it from point A to point B. Until you can walk with out the dizziness you just best get use to spending a lot of time on the couch.”
“Bobby, what if... what if I’m right, and someone else dies because I didn’t do anything to stop it.” I look down at my nails and push the cuticles back while swallowing the forming lump in my throat.
Bobby sighed after a minute, “I’ll make a call, see if I can’t get some reenforcements.”
I look up and give a light smile, “thanks Bobby.”
I got up when Gabriel got home carrying in cloth bags filled to the brim with food. I took a bag and he let me, I tried to keep a straight line as the dizziness claimed my feet and I would have bumped the table had Gabriel not put a hand out to steady me. He took the bag back, “I’ll put them away, don’t worry about it.”
Sitting at the table, watching my brother put the groceries away I felt useless. Bobby wheeled in and laughed, “it was a joke Gabe, I didn’t mean it.”
“Well you’ve given us a place to go and recuperate, least I can do is fill up the fridge.”
“How’d the phone call go?” I asked quietly.
“Sam and Dean are driving down there tonight, they’ll take a quick look around and then come here. Don’t get your hopes up though, murders happen, it might not be a hunt.”
“You called people in on your hunch?” Gabriel asked incredulously.
“No...” I whispered, “Bobby did.”
“Smart ass.” Gabriel retorted putting the eggs away.

“That Bobby?” Sam asked sitting in the passenger side of the Impala.
“Yeah,” Dean replied starting up the vehicle Dr. Hook started blaring from the speakers and Dean quickly turned it down, Sam snickered. “Really? What are you five?” He pulled out of the parallel space and stepped on the gas. “Bobby says that the Lutrelli’s are staying with him, something about a ghost poisoning...”
“When did they learn to do this?” Sam muttered.
“I bet it’s a long story. Not one I was going to do on a cell phone with shitty reception. But I’ve been told that Audrey’s not feeling too well and can’t be hunting. Anyways, Bobby says Audrey thinks a murder in the area is supernaturally oriented.”
“What do you think?”
“I think we were heading that way anyways, we might as well take a look around.”
Sam gave a shrug of his broad shoulders, “alright.”

Stepping out of the morgue Sam looked a little green and Dean stayed quiet a moment trying to pick his words carefully. “Werewolf,” was all he managed before Sam was in the car, the door slamming behind him. Usually this would have gotten a reaction from Dean but he just sighed and got in the drivers side.

A few raps at the door and Bobby shouted for them to come in. Audrey appeared from the kitchen, she looked fine till she started walking her legs completely ignoring her attempts to walk a straight line. She reached out for a table and found it was further than she thought Dean stepped forward and caught her before she fell. “Thanks,” she whispered her cheeks becoming a pink colour.
“Guess that’s why you aren’t off hunting.”
She nodded, “long story short, ghosts were poisoned, and they somehow poisoned me. I’m fine really, just my equilibrium seems to have gone out the window.”
“Winchester’s,” Gabriel greeted with a nod and then grabbed Audrey under the arm supporting her and Dean took the hint from the protective brother and let go and took a step back.
“Lutrelli,” Dean responded back starkly.
“Well, did you guys find anything, or did I completely waste your time?” Audrey asked and the brothers looked to each other. “Should we sit down?”

A moment later Bobby, Sam, Dean, Gabriel and I sat around the kitchen table. Dean looked to Sam like he expected him to speak, but Sam was keeping his mouth in a thin angry line. Dean gave a tiny shrug and started speaking, “they are calling it an animal attack.” Dean said, “but the hearts gone, and I’d bet my car on this thing being a werewolf.”
I seen Sam’s jaw tighten upon the last word and I swallowed the pit growing in my stomach. “Werewolf,” I whispered and the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. This sounded all kinds of bad.
