Dusk .::Chapter 11::. Bring Your Own Blood
Tobias was going to the party anyways. More vampires than I knew were attending. It was like all of St. Viktor’s seniors were there, and some graduates, like Tobias, too. I stepped out of my father’s Mercedes which Tobias had driven since his motorbike was impractical in our attire. My brother wore a black suit with a blood red shirt underneath. He’d snuck some blood packs which I refused and argued he should take them right back home. He left me alone by the car running off quickly to meet up with his friends.
An arm hooked onto mine and I jumped, “chill,” Marlowe told me with a wicked grin. “It’s just me.”
“Sorry.”
Marlowe started to walk inside with me in suit. “Your dress is stunning, when did you get it?”
“Mother had a few dresses made for each of us late August.” I replied, “And when did you get yours?”
She looked down at herself, she was in a tight fitting strapless, knee length navy blue dress with a hand stitched white decor along the bottom. “Picked it up at this trendy boutique, half off!”
“Aerabella, Marlowe, glad you could make it,” Scarlet greats us inside the kitchen where Faust is doing a keg stand in black slacks a white and grey striped shirt and a dark grey vest. A hip hop song was playing loudly from speakers in the livingroom and out by the pool as well. “You guys brought your own blood and bathing suits right?”
Marlowe held up a small bag that seemed impossible to fit a suit in, and two bags of A positive. “of course.” I just nodded.
“Excellent.”
Faust got off of the keg and staggered over to us. “Damn so many sexy vamps in one little circle,” he hung off of me and Scarlet and stared at Marlowe like he was starving and her two hearts were just too tempting. Scarlet giggled and Marlowe smiled slyly.
Zakia walks over to us in a long deep green dress that hugged her curvy body. “Ladies,” she gives a nod to us and then looks at Faust studying him carefully. “Dog.”
“Hey, I am not a werewolf.”
“No you’re just drooling like one.” Zakia crossed her arms over her chest.
Faust glared at her for a moment before extending an arm to Marlowe, “care to dance.” Marlowe smiles and takes his arm, assisting him to the dance floor in the livingroom.
Jacques and Ingrid were both out by the pool when I went out and seen that it was where most people were. The music was loud, and many were dancing. The kegs were already infused with blood. After Jacques talked me into one drink, and Ingrid talked me into another, I could tell my low alcohol tolerance was kicking in, but I wanted to keep drinking. Not to mention my thirst of another kind.
It is hypothesised that we have such low alcohol tolerance because alcohol dehydrates us. What keeps us in working condition isn’t water though, it’s blood. It’s best if humans are kept away from us when we’re drinking, probably the reason why Scarlet didn’t invite any humans, even though she’d love to get her fangs in one.
Jacques grinded against me from behind, I probably would have been to shy to dance with him this way had I not already been intoxicated. His hands ran down the silk covering my abdomen and rested on my swaying hips. I felt his lips on my neck and he murmured in quick sexy French. He could have been bitching about the scent of the pools chlorine for all I knew. The song transitions to Morning After Dark, and Jacques suddenly stops dancing after the first few beats and when I look over my shoulder I see why.
Calum towers over the fairly tall Jacques, he looked better than I even remembered. High chiselled cheekbones, the brightest blue eyes, short cropped dark brown hair, dressed formally in black slacks a belt, a baby blue button down collared shirt and black jacket. “May I cut in?”
Jacques looks to me and I nod, “sure man,” he drunkenly pats Calum on the shoulder and staggers over toward a keg.
“You look exceptionally beautiful tonight.” He steps in front of me and touches my face, “and you’re wearing my clasp.”
I reach back and touch the clip, “my sister convinced me, I’ve been too scared to loose it to wear it,” I admitted sheepishly.
He smiles kindly at me, “well I’m glad she talked you into it.”
“I thought Scarlet said this was a St. Viktor’s party.”
“Well I graduated,” he responded with a grin, “given it was a while ago.” I couldn’t help the childish giggle that escaped. “I did ask to cut in,” he takes a step forward closing the space between us. “I guess I should dance with you.”
“You make it sound like a chore,” I tease him, only I was partially serious and minorly hurt.
He smiles and grabs my hips in a quick movement pressing me against him. “Chores aren’t this enjoyable,” he responds slyly moving our hips together to the beat. I wrap my arms around his neck and close the space between our upper bodies. His hands move against the silk of my dress giving me goosebumps. He looks down at me and the smile slowly fades away as the song ends. “I should leave.” I go to question him but he puts a finger over my lips silencing me before I can speak. He kisses my forehead and I close my eyes my two hearts fluttering in rapid beats. And then his lips are gone my eyes flick open but he’s no where in sight. I rub my temples and sigh, Calum always confused me so much. I tried to forget about him as much as possible between his visits, and then he’d just come back and confuse me all over again.
I get another cup of blood laced beer and head inside to change into my swim suit. I wait in line for the bathroom but Scarlet finds me and leads me to her bedroom. “I was heading to the hot tub myself,” she tells me, closing the door behind us. “Gold, green or blue?” She asks me.
I grin and stagger slightly walking closer, “the gold one is pretty sexy.”
“I thought so too,” she responds, “you need help getting out of that?”
“Yeah,” I respond trying to reach back myself with out any luck to prove my point, I trip over the end of my dress in the process and Scarlet’s to inebriated to help so I fall to the floor. We both giggle and she crouches down behind me to undo my dress.
“I seen you earlier, dancing with Calum.” Scarlet says like it’s the most scandalous thing ever.
“And then he left, like POOF!” I wave my hands imitating magic. I giggle unable to contain the bubbles in my stomach.
“Aww sugar, you okay?” She asks throwing her arms around me in attempts to comfort me, but it felt a little awkward since she had already helped me out of the top part of my dress, and I was wearing pasties over my nipples rather than a bra due to the low back of the dress.
“I’ll deal, but you’re touching my boobs.”
Scarlet lets go quickly and falls to the floor laughing. “Boobs is hands down, funnies word ever. BOOBS!” She shouts surely catching the attention of all vampires. I shimmy out of the bottom of my dress and open my small bag and pull out my silver bathing suit, in a shimmering fabric that matched that of my dress. Scarlet played with the bottoms as I tied the top up. “Their so shiny!” She exclaims mesmerised by the fabric and I can’t help but snicker.
“Yours are shiny too, get into them and gimme my bottoms!”
“Mine are shiny!” She shouts like she’d forgotten and jumps up before realizing she too needed help out of her dress, I give the zipper a quick tug and the dress falls to the floor. “SHI-NAY!” She shouts dropping her bra and underwear and pulling on the one piece suit, that had a deep v past her navel and a open back and sides. I pull on my shiny bottoms and together we work on hanging up our dresses I keep trying to hang it up but my hand and eye’s don’t seem to match up and I kept missing the closet rung.
Eventually though, through teamwork we get both of our dresses hung up and head out, using each other for support to get to the hot tub. Faust runs and cannon balls into the pool splashing us with icy water as we pass, both of us shrieking.
“Oh my God!” Marlowe shouts jumping out of the hot tub and running over hugging us both, “I haven’t seen you guys in forever!”
“We’ve only all been here for three hours,” Zakia informs her from her spot in the hot tub as we slowly sink in. Ingrid being the only other one in with her
“Which is like for-ev-ah!” Marlowe insists resting her head on Zakia’s shoulder, Zakia seemed to be perfectly sober Ingrid, not so much.
“Sure, forever,” Zakia mumbles with a roll of her eyes.
“Move over girls!” Faust shimmies in between Zakia and Marlowe, Marlowe takes the chance to snuggle up to the very fit Faust who quickly wraps his arm around the petite redhead. Jacques joins us a moment later sitting between Ingrid and myself.
“So you and Calum huh?” Jacques asks with a smirk.
“For serious! Calum was here?” Marlowe perks up and leans away from Faust who seems a little disappointed by that. “I can’t believe I didn’t see him at all!”
“He seemed to come right for our little Aerabella.” Jacques patronizes me and ruffles my hair. I slap his hand away and fix it, insuring that the clasp was still securely in place. “Started dancing all sexy, sexy with her.” I splash water in his face and he wipes it from his eyes, “he wants to sex up our little Aries!”
“Shut up Jack!” I turn in my seat to slap his chest and grabs me under my knees and flips me so I’m on top of him and he holds one of my legs in place and grabs my ass to keep me from pushing away. “Lemme go! Jack, let me go!” The rest of the gang laughed, like it was a funny joke. Both of us intoxicated, me probably more so, and Jacques being stronger to begin with left me no escape, “snuggle down you spaz.” Jacques snickers and I whip my head over to Marlowe who stands.
“Jacques, let her go,” Marlowe speaks but staggers and falls back down, Faust catching her before she can hurt herself.
“Yeah Frenchy, let her go.” I look up to see Wolfgang standing in ripped up jeans, and a blue t-shirt.
I pout and reach up to him, he grabs me under the arm, holding me close to his body and pulls me out of the hot tub, Jacques giving up. Had he of held me, Wolfgang would have never been able to out power him in his human state.
“You okay?” I pout and rest my head against his shoulder, he holds me close despite the fact that I’m soaking wet.
“It was just a joke,” Jacques defends in his strong french accent.
I can feel the growl grow in Wolfgang’s chest before it’s released, a loud ferocious, scary noise that catches the attention of everyone around us. I felt the tears well up before falling over. “Where are your clothes?”
“She’s not leaving!” Scarlet intervenes stepping clumsily out of the hot tub. Everyone who comes, stays the night, and you sir, were not invited.
“Neither were the humans we seen here.” Wolfgang passes me back to Hayden and I clutch to his beat up leather jacket as Jacques steps out of the hot tub.
“Humans!” Scarlet shrieks, “they need to get out of here. Now.
“I just wanted to make sure Aries was okay since they’re here.” He was speaking to Scarlet, but his eyes never left Jacques.
Jacques sighs, “look, Aerabella, I’m sorry, I took the joke to far and made you uncomfortable, I know you’re over sensitive when you’re drunk, and I shouldn’t have taken advantage of that for a joke, I’m sorry.”
I look back over my shoulder and press my lips into a fine line. “No more talking about Calum.”
“Calum?” Wolfgang looks back at me, but I ignore him.
“Fine,” Jacques agrees quickly. I let go of Hayden and step over to Jacques who gives me a brief hug.
“Now we have a more pressing matter,” Zakia says stepping out of the hot tub and nodding her head toward the sliding doors that lead to the back door. There stood the humans, Ethan, Kayleb, and Duke.
