Boot Camp For Terribly Twisted Teens [Chapter 49] Making Fate
“Where is she?”
“Sir, calm down, I need to talk to you before you can see her.”
“Just tell me where my daughter is!”
“Dad,” Daniel came around the corner and pushed his father back away from Allen. “You need to calm down, mom’s bad enough, you don’t need to go in like that.”
Josh’s jaw tightened, and his fists clenched. “Take me to Claire.”
Daniel looked to Allen before leading his father into the medical wing. “From what I hear, Dad, you better be prepared for the worst.” Daniel and his father stared at each other for a long while. Neither of them knowing what to say to the other. United by grief, but distanced by time.
Opening the door, Josh stepped in. Lily looked up at him, a wild look in her eyes. “Josh?”
“I’m hear honey.” Josh couldn’t believe his eyes. There on the metal slab in front of him lay his daughter. Sure, she looked different, her hair black and straight, burns and scars. Still there was no denying that was Claire. “This isn’t the way things are suppose to happen,” he whispered softly, “a child should never go before their parents.”
“I keep trying to hear her Josh, but she’s not talking to me.”
“Honey, she’s dead, she’s gone now.”
“No her spirit. Her spirit isn’t talking to me.” Lily sobbed. “She’s my baby girl, she know’s that I could hear her, why wouldn’t she talk to me? Why wouldn’t she say goodbye.”
Daniel stood in the doorway unable to move. Bile rose in his throat, how could she look like that, how could she be dead? The image scarred him, taking a few steps back, he turned and left the wing.

“Nina?”
“Yeah?” She whispered back.
“I need to pee.”
Nina giggled and sat up removing herself from Thayne’s chest. “It feels weird to laugh again.” She climbed out of the bed, her grey track pants and white wife beater were crumpled from how she’d been laying. “You need help up?” She asked kindly.
“I’d like to keep some dignity,” Thayne said with a small smile as he got up on his own a little wobbly at first but made his way to the bathroom.
Nina sat there, on the bed, the silence filling in. Thoughts finding there way into her head. Things she didn’t want to think about coming to the forefront. She rubbed her stinging eyes, tears welling up. “Don’t cry, don’t cry,” she whispered to herself furiously wiping the tears away.

The next day, Thayne was evaluated, though he couldn’t remember what state he was born in, or the name of his grandmother he was physically fine and the mental damage was minimal.
Hiro had awoken a few times, but was still bedridden and kept under close watch, his wounds healing up nicely. Slowly, but nicely.
Allen feared they had missed something with Leon, and they decided to operate again finding a small opening in which blood was leaking out of. After fixing it up, it was back to playing the waiting game again.
Nick finally awoke, for a short amount of time. Liam could hardly believe his eyes. After being checked over by Allen again, they found that everything was nearly back to normal and he was cleared to leave.
“I want to see Claire.” Nick muttered as he awoke. “She’s okay right? The plan went well right?” Nick asked Liam.
“The plan fell through.” Liam stated slowly.
“What do you mean?”
“After Daniel knocked you... Claire lost it and threw him through the glass door, for someone so small, she sure is strong.” Liam paused stalling as he took a drink of water. “She... she went on her own Nick.”
“But she’s okay, right?” Nick asked, “she got everyone out right?”
“She got everyone out, Nick.”
Nick stared at Liam for a minute, his cousin looking down avoiding his gaze. “Claire... she’s okay right?”
Liam couldn’t find a way to avoid it any longer. “No Nick... she’s not.”
“What happened.”
Liam sighed, “she rigged the Kennedy building to blow up. She got shot... blood loss along with the blast... she died Nick.” Nick’s face paled and he rested his head back against the pillow. “You okay?”
Nick glared, “of course not!”
Liam looked away and Nick covered his face with his hands.

“Danny?” Daniel turned around to see Nick.
Daniel sighed, “man, I’m sorry.” Nick didn’t say anything and Daniel continued, “I’m sorry I freaked out, I’m sorry I didn’t trust you to take care of my sister, I’m sorry I overreacted, I’m sorry I didn’t know my own strength. I know it doesn’t make it better but I didn’t ever mean to push you that hard.”
Nick smiled slightly. “I know, and I know you love Claire, and you were just trying to protect her.” Nick walked closer, “and I have an idea.”
Daniel raised an eyebrow. “What kind of idea?”
“I just need you to stall your parents funeral arrangements.”
Daniel shook his head, “do you know how long it took for my dad to talk my mother down? To make arrangements?” Tears welled in his eyes, “my baby sister’s funeral is today, I can’t do anything to prevent that.”
“Danny. Trust me. Do it.” Nick said turning on his heal and heading for the exit. “You wont’ regret it.”
Daniel pushed back his hair and sighed, “I better not.”

Nick drove the car faster than he probably should with the conditions of the roads. He knew there was still hope. A tiny light. He drifted into the driveway and jumped out leaving the car on with the E-brake on.
He jumped the stairs and knocked on the door in a hurried manner. The door opened, a chain making sure it didn’t open too far. “Nick?”
“Caitlyn, I know this isn’t the life you chose, and I know you don’t want to work for the Carlin Institute, but I need your help. I need you to put Claire’s spirt back in her body.”
Caitlyn sighed and shut the door, unchained the door and opened it again. “You’re right I don’t want any of this.”
“Please, her funeral is today. Please, you have to help me.”
“Maybe she moved on, maybe she was ready to die.”
Nick thought of what Claire had told him, he shook his head. “Please. Help me.”
Caitlyn put her head in her hands and sighed. “Something tells me I’m going to regret this.”
Caitlyn got into the vehicle and Nick pulled out and sped down the road.
“Where is she?”
