Prologue
The Dream
I shot up in bed. Oh, I realized, the dream. It was the same dream I had frequently, the one with the yellow eyed stranger. I didn’t consider it as a nightmare ‘cause I kind of enjoyed his meetings. I could either look left into the darkness, or look right into his cold, striking, yellow eyes. You could probably guess which way I turned. I turned in that direction to meet those strange, wonderful, cold eyes I seemed to enjoy. I stared into the vast emptiness in them. This is the part where I thump back to my pillow, squeeze my eyes shut, re-open them and he’s gone.
I end up having a peaceful dream after that. Find it weird? I don’t…

Chapter 1
School. Should I say anymore?
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
I slammed my fist to my alarm clock. Why did I need one again?
I grumbled unpretty things as I made my way to my closet. I chose those pretty simple set of cloths- jeans and a long sleeve shirt-, since I was still pretty blind of grogginess. I took my time shuffling my feet to the bathroom down the hall. Jaiden, my older brother, was at his door.
“Guess I get to sleep five more minutes.” He said, ending it with a yawn. I didn’t bother to remind him of the bathroom downstairs.
I finally made it to the bathroom, I slowly undressed, and got my shower cap on. When I got into the shower the water was burning! I yelped in surprised and turned it down. Well, at least I’m awake now. I took my quick shower, and brushed my teeth. I looked at the cloths I chose. Eh, don’t really matter, I decided. Now what should I do with my hair? Something different-unique. A light bob suddenly flashed in my head. Perfect, just like I wanted it. A nicely done, sloppy ponytail!
I pulled my cloths on and went downstairs. My little sister greeted me cheerfully.
“Little creep.” I muttered. My mom gave me a look. I shrugged. “She likes waking up early. Now.”
I had my breakfast and decided to actually go to school. I ran upstairs to get a sweater, and of course my shoes. I chose my blue high-top converse, despite the wintery weather. I grabbed my back pack and ipod. You must think I’m rich huh?
As I approached the door my mother yelled,
“I hear it might snow today. So don’t forget your real coat.” I could practically hear her eyebrows raise.
“Okay mother.” I grumbled.
I pulled on my winter coat and turned my ipod on. Then I headed to school. I enjoyed the freezing walk, with my favorite tunes.
As I approached school, I almost got crashed. No really, a Honda Ridgeline was right in front of me. My dream car (cue dreamy music). I blinked a few times, and finished crossing the street. I noticed some people I knew saw that. I gave a smile to whoever gave me a questioning look.
I saw my best friends in the spot we usually meet. Anna and Jessica (Jess for short), were the two very coolest girls in the world. Anna was your average blond hair blue eyes girl, while Jess had long black hair with dark grey eyes. I sort of stuck out with short light brown hair, with light grey eyes. We’re such beauties aren’t we?
“Hello ladies!” I said when I got to them.
“Yo.” Anna greeted me. “Yellow!” Jess said cheerfully.
“Ah, yellow. Such a friendly color. Calm, peaceful…” I analyzed coolly.
“Yes my friend, I agree with you.” Anna said not skipping a beat.
“Make that three.” Jess finished.
We took a moment to realize what we just said. Jess changed the subject,
“So, I hear there’s a new kid.”
“And I heard there was going to be a new teacher, I don’t see them anywhere.” I challenged.
“Well this might be true.” Anna broke in, “I hope it’s a boy- and he’s hot.”
“Is that all you think about?” I asked rolling my eyes. Anna grinned at me, while Jess rolled her eyes as well.
“Oh yeah, I almost forget to tell you,” I started, “I almost died!”
I took their shocked expressions as a go on. “I was crossing the street when I heard tiers squeal to a stop, then I turned around and my dream car was just there.”
“You’re okay right?” They asked.
“Duh,” I said brushing their concern to the side, “If I wasn’t I wouldn’t be standing here!”
It was my turn to grin and them to roll their eyes at me. Then the bell rang. Anna and I went to our homeroom, and Jess went to hers. I let my mind wander, as I went to homeroom. When I refocused I noticed I was in the classroom walking in my seat. Everyone was quiet. I looked up and saw a new kid. So, the rumors had been correct. And the new kid is kind of…hot. New kid was, fortunately, a boy. He had messy black hair, with gray-green eyes. Beautiful.
I decided to not be like every other girl and drool over him. I took out my sketching notebook, and started sketching. But then I felt eyes on me. I looked around the classroom, and my eyes settled on new guy. I stared into his eyes, and felt a bit of familiarity. I looked back down at my sketch book. But he was staring at me again! I looked at him and narrowed my eyes. Staring contest? It is so on.
It was as if new guy understood me, his own eyes narrowed in concentration. I smirked. So did he, except wider. Then the teacher came in. We still kept at it.
“Err, good morning class. I believe we have a new student. ” Mr. Moore announced. “Would you care to introduce yourself?”
“Huh?” New guy asked, then blinked. Loser! “Oh, I’m Xavier. Xavier Cox.”
My victorious grin, turned into a short little ‘ha.’. ‘Cause his last name is Cox…get it? Cox…ah.
“Nice to meet you, Xavier.” Mr. Moore said, not at all sounding glad, while other girls said hello to him too. “I guess Xavier will need a tour guide to show him around. Would anyone care to vol-”
He didn’t have to bother finishing that sentence. All most every girls hand rose up, me not being one of them.
“Err,” Mr. Moore looked troubled at the thought of having to choose. His eyes landed on me, “How about you Marianna Scott?”
Me eyes widened, and every girl glared daggers at me. All I thought was, why me?!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Song Playing through my head right now:
Are you ready for this?....So are you?

Chapter 2
Welcome Xavier
I was tempted to say, ‘you hate me right?’. But what came out was-
“I- I don’t think I could do that sir.” Jealous hormonal teenage girls are scary.
“Yes you can.” Anna sang to me. I glared at her.
“Marianna! How rude of you.” Mr. Moore scolded me. “He is new after all. I don’t know why not.” He raised his eyebrows at me. I turned my attention back to Mr. Moore. From my provisional vision I saw Xavier smirking. This caught my attention very much. I turned my head to Xavier and looked him in the eye, and then I said,
“You know what sir? I think I’d like to try.”
“Wonderful.” Mr. Moore said dryly.
My smirk re-planted itself as I crossed my arms over my chest. Xavier rolled his eyes, and come over to sit next to me.
“So now, you stick to me like glue!” I greeted him with mock enthusiasm.
“Hello.” Xavier ignored me completely, and greeted Anna.
“Hey.” Anna greeted back, flirtatiously.
Here is the thing with Anna being flirty or ‘sexy’. She sucks. She hurts people. For example, last guy she liked. He ended up with a broken leg. Do not ask how.
“It is very nice to meet you.” Xavier continued.
“Awesome.” I mumbled. “You wanna know something?” Xavier rolled his eyes in my direction. “Not really.”
“It’s from Anna.” I growled. What did I do to him?
I whispered into Anna’s ear. When I finished this is what Anna got, “You’re a cruel jerk. With a cute face!”
I glared at her. “I did not say that!” I exclaimed.
“You didn’t have to. I can read minds.” Anna said wiggling her eyebrows at me.
Xavier looked amused. I stuck my tong out at both of them. Then the bell rang. I got up reluctantly.
“Get off your butt.” I said to Xavier, glancing down.
“You could say that a bit more politely.” Xavier scolded.
“Whatever.”
As he got up, I remembered I’m the tour guide. As in, no classes for me. This day just got a bit better.
~0~0~
We continued to walk through the hallways. Yes, this is all I need to do being a tour guide. Well, except for the fact that I am supposed to be actually showing him each classroom. I looked over at Xavier, who looked deep in thought. I carefully studied his features.
His eyes looked kind of blank when in thought, a little narrowed also. His jaw was set as if making a decision. I decided to get pay back on his unnecessary rudeness.
“This is the library.” I said loudly. Loudly enough to snap him out of thought, and make him slightly jump.
He glared at me. “Look who decided to be a tour guide.” He sneered.
I shrugged. “Just doing my job, is all. No need to thank me.”
“I wasn’t planning to.” He said standing straighter.
I took this chance to have an adult conversation. “So, why’d you move here suddenly?”
“My whole family moved because something’s went wrong in the last place we lived.” He said, not even glancing at me.
“What things?” I asked suddenly interested.
“Something’s you wouldn’t believe.” Some how, I felt that was the end of that conversation. So I changed the subject, “So I think my friend Anna has taken a liking to you.”
“Are you jealous, that I might have taken a liking to her?” He asked wiggling his eye brows.
I laughed. “Not at all.”
“So you don’t want my incredible sexiness?” He said smiling also.
“Look here buddy; I think your getting a bit carried a way.” I said, but I still laughed.
We laughed for a bit, and then calmed down. He looked at me strangely, and I raised my eyebrows. He shrugged and we continued his tour around school properly.

Chapter 3
A New Beginning
From Xavier’s tour, I learned we had some classes together. Xavier isn’t too bad, except he does get mean at times. And that’s only me speaking, after knowing him for about six hours. You never know a person until you know their favorite ice cream flavor. That’s what I say, anyways.
We are currently walking home right now. We, as in Xavier, Anna, and I. Anna is currently being very flirty with Xavier. This concluded to Xavier falling, and tripping, but also laughing at the same time. This one’s a keeper-for today at least. I let my mind wander and absent mindedly grabbing Xavier when possible. When I suddenly realized something,
“Mog, Christmas is in like a week from tomorrow’s tomorrow.”
Anna stopped chatting and looked at me. “Oh yeah. It’s a good thing I went shopping two months ago.” She added this part quietly with a glance at Xavier, “But I might have to buy another one.”
“We need to buy a tree still.” I said.
“My family too, since we just moved here.” Xavier said. “Where do people usually buy them?”
“I don’t know the exact location. I can ask my Dad, he’ll know.”
Xavier smiled at me for thanks. We approached Anna’s house just then.
“See you guys later.” Anna said. “I’ll call you later.” I’m not sure who she was talking to, but I waved to her and continued walking. It was silent for a while when I decided to break it.
“So where do you live?” I asked.
“Are you going to stock me?” He asked. I rolled my eyes so he continued. “I live about thirty minutes away from school.”
“Ah. So you live about ten minutes away from me.” Just then I slipped on the ice. With my extra coolness I stopped myself with my hands and knees, Xavier reacting too slowly.
“Are you okay?” Xavier asked with concern.
“A-okay.” I said smiling. I looked down at my hands. They had little scratches on them, but nothing bleeding just a little stingy. Xavier offered me a hand, I took it carefully, but my knee hurt. I started to limp.
“Wanna piggy back ride so you don’t fall again? I don’t want those to get infected.” Xavier asked amusement light in his eyes.
“Are you sure you’re strong enough.” I raised my eyebrows.
Xavier only raised one eyebrow. “Try me.”
I hopped onto his back and got comfy. “I hate you, you know.”
“Why would that be?”
“I can never just raise one eyebrow. It seems everyone in the world can except me.”
Xavier laughed at me. I liked his laugh, it slightly echoed from the trees that surrounded every house. I leaned my head on the top of his head.
“What number is your house?” Xavier asked.
“Sixty three. Its dark blue and white, I got to paint it.” He only chuckled at my extra information.
After a pause I asked, “Am I heavy?”
“Not at all. My sister weighs a ton, sometimes she sits on me and tells me to give her a tour around the house. It’s impossible, I barley make it out of my own room.” He ended with a laugh. I laughed along with him.
“How old is your sister?”
“Nineteen. But she acts like she’s five.” “My sister is five. My older brother is eighteen; I’m hoping he finds his own apartment soon.”
“Why would you want that? I actually like having my sister around. Who else is going to cook when Mom’s not home?” I smiled at this.
“It’s not really Jaiden I want out, it’s all his stupid girlfriends. They always think I’m a child when they see my bedroom. It’s disgusting when they call me sweetie.” I scrunched up my nose at the memory.
“Why would they think you were little?”
“’Cause I’m a little on the short side and I sleep with stuff animals.” I said proudly.
“What stuffed animals?” I could hear the smile in his voice.
“Pooh Bear, my stuffed dolphin, and my only Build-A-Bear. Their the only ones I can truly trust.” I smiled into his hair.
“What about Anna or Jessica?” He sounded confused.
“You can’t trust anyone.” I whispered. He paused for a moment, then nodded in agreement.
“We’re here.” Xavier said after a moment.
I inhaled the mysterious scent in his hair one more time then slid off his back. I limped around him for a bit then said,
“Thanks for the ride.” I smiled up at him.
“It was hardly that.” He smiled with me.
“Okay, it was a ride for me but a workout for you.” I flashed one more smile at him before limping to the door. “See ya tomorrow.”
“Goodbye Marianna.” He turned and continued walking.
I slid inside and heard the television on in the living room. I removed my winter gear and walked in. Jaiden had his eyes glued to the screen. I sat next to attempting to figure out what it was he was watching. Television confuses me these days. I gave up.
“Sup dude?” I asked.
“Nothing much dudet.” He said not glancing at me.
I scrunched my nose up in disgust. “Ew, I don’t want to be the hair on a horses butt. ” I shrugged. “But, you can still be horse balls.”
Jaiden looked at me with wide eyes. “I didn’t know it meant that!”
“Well now you do.” I smirked.
“Don’t ever call me dude again.” He threatened.
I raised my eyebrows. “No deal dude. That word is engraved into my vocabulary.”
I got up to get away from his burning glare. I put my winter gear a way neatly and limped upstairs. My father was obviously home, since I heard the television on in the no woman room. I went into my bedroom and did most of my homework.
I didn’t want to be bored so I took out my sketch pad , and looked for something to draw. I found my self sketching without looking at anything. When I was done I looked at it. I drew a sword, a long blade with something wrapped around it like a vine. It covered the whole page, but I liked it. Before I knew it, it was dinner time. My family is one of those families that eat together. It’s actually fun sometimes.
My mom made the dinner tonight which was a bit of a surprise. Usually she calls upon my awesome cooking, she only cooks when she’s telling us something. Something was up, we all felt it.
As soon as all of us had something on our plates my mother cleared her throat.
“As you guys can tell I have something to say.” She told us. “Well, your Father and I have something to say.”
“Is it something bad?” Shanny asked eyes widening.
“No Hun, but it’s very important.” My father said.
“Then I think you can tell us now instead of building the suspense.” Jaiden said bluntly.
“Well, the truth is…We’re having a baby!” My mother exclaimed.
I choked on my food in response. “Another one?!”
My mother glared at me. “It’s been five years since I’ve had another baby.”
“But aren’t you like…old?” Jaiden asked. “Shouldn’t Dad’s fishies be dead?”
It was my dad’s turn to glare at Jaiden while I cracked up and Shanny asked if Daddy really had fishies. Then my mother looked tiered.
“I’m sorry.” She began to tear up. “I didn’t know you guys didn’t want another brother or sister.”
“Aw jeez, hear come the waterworks.” I rolled my eyes at my moms sick joke. “I’m eating in my room. Good luck finding a room for the baby.”
I got up and ate in my room, everyone staring after me. I was usually easiest to fall for my mom’s fake tears. When I finished eating I went back down stairs to see everyone left except Jaiden was watching TV. I washed my dish and sat next to him.
“Why don’t you ever read a good book?” I asked jokingly.
Jaiden rolled his eyes. “This is the most TV I’ve watched in a while.”
I watched it with him, thought the colors just blurred and my mind wandered. When I refocused Jaiden had my ice cream in hand. I stared at him for a while, trying the catch his eyes. When that failed I grabbed my ice cream out of his hands. Jaiden gave me a surprised look. I narrowed my eyes and stuck my tongue out at him.
“What was that for?” He asked.
“You know the rules of the house.” I tsked him. “No one ever steals my ice cream or cookies.”
Jaiden rolled his eyes, he likes to do that. “I’m older, and more superior. Therefore I get to eat whatever I want.”
“Puh-Lease.” I said and left to my room with a spoon from the kitchen.
I fell asleep that night with high hopes of tomorrow. Waking up only once for my dream with the yellow eyed guy.

Chapter 4
Snow Storm?
My alarm awoke me as always. But instead of the grogginess I usually felt wasn’t there. I was wide awake. I walked to my closet and stood there for a few minutes. I chose simple boot-cut jeans, with a navy blue sweater top. I went into the bathroom whistling Christmas tunes.
Did you ever take a relaxing hot shower? Well you should try it. The steam is so comforting you can lose your self. Ever try having a relaxing cold shower? I’ve tried it…it doesn’t have the same effect.
I left my hair in a bun and went to have breakfast. My mother, father, and Shanny were in the kitchen. I greeted them and ate my breakfast peacefully. Everyone commented on my cheery mood, I just smiled. But when I had my gear on and opened the door, I was no longer happy.
There was a biting cold wind, and it was snowing- a lot! It looked about two inches deep already. I didn’t hear there was going to be a snow storm!
“Mommy,” I whined walking to the living room. “Is there even any school today?”
“Of course there is.” She said. “Jaiden said he’d give you a ride.”
“Great.” I said as the phone began to ring.
I picked it up. “Hello?”
“It’s Anna. Are you going to school today?” Anna asked on the other end of the phone.
“Yuppers.” I said. “Are you?”
“Nope. Neither is Jess.”
“Well that sucks. Why aren’t you going?”
“’Cause I am able to stay home and play the Sims 2 all day!”
“Thanks for leaving me all alone you jerks.”
“Love you too.” And then we hung up.
Jaiden drove me to school and told me the bad news that I had to walk back. Of course I complained about the twenty minute walk, but he promised to bring me cookies from Walmart if I made it back alive. That butt knew I’d do anything for cookies.
As I walked straight to my homeroom, someone was waiting for me there. Xavier sat in the seat that Anna usually sat in.
“Hello.” He greeted me. “Didn’t think you would come. I noticed Anna didn’t come either.”
“She’d rather play the Sims 2 all day.” I said rolling my eyes.
“So I guess it’s just the two of us.”
“I guess so.”
That’s when it became awkward. My eyes dashed around the room and I saw multiple girls looking at Xavier and I then whispering to each other. I really hate gossip, and I really hope they weren’t about to start spreading some. I broke the silence.
“My mom’s pregnant.” I said casually.
“Really? How far in?” He asked surprised.
“I don’t really know…I think only a few days. It’s been years since she’s had another baby. Wow, my mom is really old.”
“Wow is right. I’m the youngest in the family. I don’t think my mom wants anymore. Well at least I hope not.” He ended thoughtfully.
There was another awkward minute or two and I decided to tell him the truth of him leaning in.
“You’re probably not going to believe this, but like every girl is staring at you.” I said sarcastically.
Xavier actually looked around for the first time. I was so correct it was scary. I never actually noticed how many girls were in my homeroom. I guess it’s because I favor boys better.
“Really?” He asked.
“Yes. And they’re probably going to spread gossip about you and me.”
“Huh.”
“Yes, and your not helping.” I said a bit more quietly.
“How would I not be helping?” He asked seriously.
“By leaning closer to me.” I said barley over a whisper in his ear.
Xavier had unconsciously, I suppose, leaned over to my desk and hand cupping jaw leaned very close into my bubble. Something I do not appreciate.
“Whoops.” He said breathlessly, and whipped back into Anna’s seat.
I laughed, and he joined in. This only caused more people to stare. Girls glared at me, and boys glared at Xavier. I blushed, and looking over Xavier was blushing too.
“How did this happen.” I asked, barley moving my lips. I’m afraid they’ll attack.
“Not really sure.” Xavier said copying my actions.
“Thinking what I’m thinking?”
“Run for it.”
“Three,” We grabbed our backpacks. “Two,” We were slowly rising in our seats. “Run!” We screeched and ran out of the classroom. Once we got out we made sure no one was following. Hey, like I said , hormonal teens are scary.
“Now what?” Xavier asked.
I shrugged. “We’re obviously not changing classes. So you wanna skip?” Xavier grinned. “Sounds better than facing those things.”
“I agree with that.” I paused. “But where are we going to waste time at?”
“We could go to my house.” Xavier offered casually.
“Would your parents mind?”
“Not at all.”
“Do we have to walk?” I pouted.
“Nah. I’ll call my sister.”
And that’s exactly what he did on his cell phone. It was a brief conversation with some chuckles. But other than that we waited silently, but comfortably, at the front door.
I toyed with a strand of my hair that fell out of my bun. Xavier watched me intently, as if it were very interesting.
“Yes?” I asked sweetly.
Xavier shrugged. “I just don’t see my mom or sister doing that much. How do you find entertainment in that?”
“It’s not really entertainment exactly. But, just get’s me from needing much more entertainment. Pretty much, it keeps me busy.”
“Ah.” Xavier acknowledged, nodding. Some hair fell into his eyes. I had the sudden urge to brush it out of his eyes, something I only did to Jaiden. Then Xavier signaled a ‘lets go’ with his hand. I threw my coat on, and ran behind him to the Honda Ridgeline that almost crashed me yesterday. I slid into the back seat and looked at the driver. She was very pretty. She had long flowing black hair with Xavier’s gray-green eyes.
I narrowed my eyes at her. “You’re the one who almost crashed me.” I accused.
She narrowed her own eyes. “You’re the one who got in the way.”
“Touché.”
“Do you even know the meaning of touché?” Xavier asked curiously.
“Eh, maybe.” Xavier’s sister and I said at the same time.
Xavier only raised and eye brow and turned back into his seat. His sister started driving, pretty slowly, considering the above ankle deep snow on the ground. “My name is Rose.” She said suddenly.
“Marianna.” I introduced myself.
“Why exactly can’t you go to your house Marianna?”
“Mom would kill me.” I said glancing at my house as we passed by. I had this childish feeling to duck down; maybe it was because my mom was coming out of the house right then. “That’s her now.”
“Ah.” She said, then directed her attention to Xavier. “You are so lucky Mom isn’t like Marianna’s mom. You’d die like once every two months.”
I laughed at this. The only reason Mom would get angry, is because she thinks I’m missing my education. I still cant believe she used to be one of those kids that skipped school much more frequently than Xavier does. She doesn’t want me following her footsteps.
But I do wonder what Anna was doing. The Sims 2 cant really be that much fun. Maybe I could call her and invite her to Xavier’s; with his permission of course. But then Anna would call Jess-with out Xavier’s permission- and invite her. I could only imagine what speech she’d give me about skipping school.
We suddenly made it to a medium, modern white two story house. In the drive way were two more cars, that I couldn’t identify. I could see a glimpse of a garden in the back yard. All in all this house was very nice.
Xavier and Rose stepped out of the car and started walking to the front door. I hurried out of the car to catch up. I cant believe what a beautiful house Xavier lives in. I wonder if his mom is mean, maybe that’s where he gets it from. Or maybe his dad.
When we walked in, we entered a living room. There was a man watching the television intently. Turns out there’s a football game on. I looked at the living room, surrounded in family pictures. One of then looked like a younger Xavier, and Rose. There were also two other boys, that looked older than either of them. They had lighter hair than both Rose and Xavier,
The man on the couch looked up suddenly, commercial was on. He was fairly young, sharing his dark hair with his children, and green eyes. His head was coked to the side.
“Dad, Marianna. Marianna, Dad.” Xavier introduced us shaking his cat off with ease.
“Hello.” I said, a bit shyly. “Hello.” He grumbled, in discomfort.
I took off my coat awkwardly, and just stood there. There was a pause.
“Follow me.” Xavier said suddenly.
I followed him down a hall, looking at the millions of pictures they seemed to have. At least ¼ of them were adorable pictures of Xavier. I smiled at one with his hair disheveled and paint somehow on his cheeks, his eyes were wide and bright with humor. He had a nice big grin, showing his pearly whites. It didn’t look like it was taken too long ago, and it made me smile.
Xavier continued leading me to room, and opened the door. I was brought to a comfortable looking room, painted dark blue. The bed wasn’t made, and there were CD’s scattered every where. Such a boy’s room.
Xavier gestured for me to sit. I sat on his bed and looked at him. He moved to sit on the opposite side of his bed. We stared at each other in silence. I got lost in his eyes, and he in mine. I jumped a little when I heard Rose sing,
“You better not be trying anything on her Xavier.”
Xavier laughed his slightly booming laugh. “I’m not Rose.” He sang back.
Rose’s head pooped in. “Huh. You better be telling the truth.”
I laughed along with Xavier this time. “Don’t worry.” Xavier and I told her.
She left the room and Xavier and we some how picked up from where we left off. I wanted to bother him, from staring at me seriously, so I poked him on the nose. He cracked a smile, and grabbed my hand. I blushed as we realized what he did.
“I told you so.” Rose suddenly said, at the door.
Xavier threw a pillow at her, which she step-sided. “Get a life.” Xavier said to her. “I’m looking for one.” She replied cheekily. "I hear they're selling them at Walmart!"
Xavier got up with another pillow in his hand, a threat. Rose walked away, her laugh trailing behind her. I smiled at the sibling love. There was a pause.
“You wanna watch a movie?” Xavier asked. “Sure.” I said, shifting around. “It better be something good.” “Oh trust me, you’ll love it. Let’s go to the living room.”
So I got up and followed him to the living room, that was now empty. I settled onto the couch, while he popped the movie in. It turned out to be Fired Up. Awesome movie, but I didn’t finish it. I fell asleep on that dramatic, sad part that always accurse in movies. I fell asleep against Xavier.

I woke up in Xavier’s bed. I sat up straight, surprised that I got there. I wonder how I got here. The last thing I remember is watching the movie, then falling asleep on Xavier shoulder. At remembering I blushed lightly. Then, I guess someone brought me here. I heard soft voices coming from down the hall. I got up and stretched. I felt at ease walking into Xavier’s kitchen yawning. Xavier pushed the seat next to him open, and I slid in. There was a woman now standing over the stove, making grilled cheese sandwiches. She had the the color hair of the other two boys in the picture. She didn’t acknowledge I was there until she presented Xavier with the sandwich.
“You eat grilled cheese sandwiches?” I asked him seriously.
“You don’t?” He asked me unashamed.
I smiled. “Never said I didn’t.”
The woman suddenly spoke up. “You’re pretty.” She said bluntly, nodding in Xavier’s way. Xavier blushed lightly. It seemed like one of those 'Mom…' moments.
“You too.” I replied smiling wider. “ I'm Xavier's mom." We shook hands. "Would you like a sandwich?”
“Nah, I think I should head home.” I glanced at the clock, defiantly time to go home.
“I’ll walk you.” Xavier said, about to start getting up.
“No, no little brother. I can drive her.” Rose said appearing in the kitchen entry.
“Okay.” I said. I got up and made my way to put my layers of cloths on.
Xavier walked up to me. He watched amused as I shuffled to the door. I was starting to sweat already.
“Do you want to walk to school together tomorrow?” Xavier blurted.
I looked over at him surprised. He was looking away slightly pink, as if that question took a lot of effort.
“Sure.” I answered. And that, is when everything comfortable began.
